Mi Sheberach - A Prayer for Healing

Mi Sheberach by Lisa Levine

Sung by Cantor Stone

Mi Sheberach Avoteinu
Avraham Yitzchak v’Ya’akov
Mi Sheberach Imoteinu
Sarah, Rivka, Leah, v’Rachel

May the one who blessed our mother
May the one who blessed our fathers
Hear our prayer
Hear our prayer
Hear our prayer
Hear our prayer
And bless us as well

Bless with the power of your healing
Bless us with the power of your hope
May our hearts be filled with understanding
And strengthened by the power of our love

Mi Sheberach - From our Siddur

Mi Shebeirach avoteinu v’imoteinu,
Avraham, Yitzchak v’Yaakov, Sarah, Rivkah,
Rachel v’Lei-ah, hu y’vareich et hacholim.
HaKadosh Baruch Hu yimalei
rachamim aleihem, l’hachalimam ul’rapotam
ul’hachazikam, v’yishlach lahem m’heirah
r’fuah, r’fuah shleimah min hashamayim,
r’fuat hanefesh ur’fuat haguf, hashta
baagala uviz’man kariv. V’nomar: Amen.

May the one who blessed our ancestors, Abraham, Isaac and Jacob, Sarah, Rebecca, Rachel and Leah, bless and heal those who are ill. May the Blessed Holy One be filled with compassion for their health to be restored and their strength to be revived. May God swiftly send them a complete renewal of body and spirit, and let us say, Amen.

PRAYERS AND MUSIC

Congregation Emanu-El of Westchester embraces the rich and varied traditions of our Jewish musical heritage. Our cantor, Meredith Stone, leads us in the full spectrum of our musical legacy, incorporating into worship both the melodies of our past and our present. Her beautiful voice has inspired worshippers for more than 25 years.

Depending on the style of worship service, musical accompaniments range from organ and professional vocal quartet to piano, guitar and our professional band who play at nearly half of our Friday night Shabbat services each year. During the year we offer special musical programs such as a family service with contemporary Jewish performing artists to an annual musical Shabbat which, in the past, has featured artistic presentations from oratorios with chorus and orchestra to dance companies and much more. As our community grows and changes, our melodies and musical arrangements will also grow and change to reflect our evolving identity.

One path to connecting with Judaism is through singing with others. We encourage participation in all our worship services and offer additional opportunities for those who would like a deeper involvement in music. All religious school children are welcome to join our spirited Junior Choir. This is a wonderful way to make friends and members take pride in leading worship at our family services. Our enthusiastic adult singing group, the Temple Tones, shares a love of music and prayer as they help lead the singing at our Discovery Shabbat services.

Use the links below to learn some of the prayers that make up our worship service. For each one we’ve provided the text in Hebrew, transliteration and English as well as a recording of Cantor Stone singing the prayer. You can also hear the music of the Family Service on our Temple Band page.
